went to watch CONGKAK at DOWNTOWN EAST today.
Here's a quick sypnosis.

The story begins when Kazman (Riezman Khuzaimi) and wife (Nanu Baharuddin) decides to go for a holiday with their children, Lisa and Elly. Their holiday destination is a bungalow by a lake, which Kazman had promised to buy from his friend.

When they arrive at the bungalow, mysterious and ominous events unfold. Sufiah tries to convince Kazman to leave but to no avail. Sufiah cannot shake off the feeling that something is stalking her. To add to the peculiarity, their daughter, Lisa (Erynne Erynna) makes nightly trips to the dark room downstairs to play Congkak with a mysterious playmate that can only be seen by her. Lisa’s strange behaviour quickly extends to daytime. She starts playing with her seemingly non-existent playmate near the forests at the back of the bungalow. She proclaims to Kazman that her playmate stays in the forest grounds. To Kazman’s fright, he realizes that the forest plays host to an old cemetery,

Too spooked, Sufiah throws the Congkak into the lake, but the next night, she awakens to the sound of the Congkak game from the same room. Worried for Lisa, she decides to look in the dark room. Instead of finding Lisa, she sees the figure of an old woman playing the Congkak. Things only get worse from here as more and more bone-chilling occurrences take place. It all cumulates to a climax as Lisa & Elly both disappear and Sufiah is possessed by an evil spirit. It is now up to Kazman to seek help to save his family.

The Village Elder, Pak Tua (M. Rajoli), volunteers his services in this epic fight of good versus evil. What dark secrets lie behind the bungalow? Will the doomed family survive this ill-omened ordeal or will this holiday be their last?"

yeah. quite scary. but at the same time quite funny. at times too 'power ranger/dragon ball Z' like, "aguden!" << or something like that. heh. ok la over all the spesh effects for the flick were like too fake. skin disease? hmm. got like orbs of some power force thing. LOL.

a tad on the unrealistic side, or else this would've been quite okay for S$7.50.

anyhoo, i guess i should've known what i was getting myself into when i fell for him over 6 months ago.

oh well. c'est la vie. that's life.
